IMPORTANT UPDATE: CCS Adds Events to Schedule
Posted: August 13th, 2008

(Haubstadt, IN) - August 7, 2008.  The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series is pleased to announce the addition of two more racing dates to the 2008 season schedule. MSCS Officials reached an agreement with Richard Burmeister, the promoter of Clay County
Speedway, to run two events at the 1/3 mile Flora, IL, facility during the second half of this season.

The Clay County Speedway dates assure the continued presence of MSCS in the Prairie State. MSCS is pleased to have these opportunities to bring itʼs style of non wing sprint car racing to Illinois race fans and provide some in-state racing for all the Illinois based sprint car teams.

The first date is soon. Very Soon! The sprints will be the main attraction on Saturday night August 16th at Clay County Speedway and return for a second equally exciting engagement Saturday night September 6th. Both appearances will be highlighted by 30 lap features paying $2,000 to win.

The MSCS schedule now stands at 16 events once again. Of the original first 11 shows, the 8 completed have been very competitive. Robert Ballou and Jon Stanbrough have 3 feature wins each with Daron Clayton and Brady Short capturing one each. Rain prevented the other three programs from happening!

Defending Series Champion Kyle Cummins has now moved into the points lead after last weekendʽs two races. He has been methodically closing in on that first win of the season.  In feature events Kyle has two thirds and two seconds in his last 4 outings with MSCS. The
Princeton, IN, driver has been consistently taking his car to the front and in position to challenge for a feature win.

Clay County Speedway is located 1.9 miles North of U.S. 50 on U.S. 45 and sits on County Road 20(700N). It is visible from highway 45 and easy to find! Information for the track can be obtained by phoning 618-662-6825.

August promises to be one hot racing month for MSCS. Two races are in the books after a first busy weekend and four more now remain on the August schedule. Clay County Speedwayʼs race on the 16th will be followed by the Union County Speedway make-up date on the 22nd, Twin Cities Racewayʼs event on the 23rd, and Tri-State Speedway Labor
Day Weekend Special on the 31st.

NEWS UPDATE: Race Report & Results: August 23rd, 2008
Posted: August 24th, 2008

Mother Nature was not kind to the race fans this week. We never got rain, but the humidity was thick enough to cut it with a knife. Speedway officials did what we could to push the program along. We had great door to door action in all classes.

Modified Feature started 20 cars but wasn't long lived under green. Coming to turn two Brian Shaw went in a little hot and looped it around collecting 4 others. Big Jim signaled the restart and all cars dropped back in line. When the green flew for the second time we got to see some great action until lap 5 when Kelby Simmons spun his car in turn three, he tagged the back of the field and we once again went green. It was on lap 10 that Kelby Simmons took it in a bit too deep and looped it once again bringing out the caution, this was his second unassisted so he retired for the evening. Come lap 14 Dean Rhoden brought out the yellow when he loops it around and was unable to re-fire in time to keep it going. After getting all cars back in line, Jim threw the green. The snake bit the 1M team of Chris Moore on lap 18 when he was running 3rd. This set us up for a green, white, checker with no more incident.

Street Stock Feature started 13 cars and went green with no incident until lap 4 when Dave matthew spun and kept going but Jeff Garrison couldn't follow suite and brought out the caution. Once restarted the cars were all trying to jockey for position when on lap 7 the car of Kurt Lodeke had to be retired due to mechanical failure. Big Jim called off the next restart when a couple guys got a bit anxious, but one lap later we went green. Lap 9 was rough on Timmy Snelling he looped it on the front stretch bringing out the yellow. Once green we went with great action until the white flag lap when Bob Simmons got into turn 4 a bit hot and looped it. We went to the famous Green, White, Checker mode and finished without further incident.
