The tempature was hot, but the racing was SMOKIN! As the cars lined up at the pit gate the energy was able to be felt county wide. Then came the fans, many coming out for the first time this year. As you feasted your eyes on the track you could tell it was smooth. The excitement was thick in the air before any cars took the track. During hotlaps it all became apparent what the night had in store. The cars filed out on the speedway and you could already smell the testosterone. Come race time, heat number one, all that boiled over on the first lap.

Coming into turn 1 at full speed Chad Kinder had position, but Brian Shaw wanted that same piece of real estate in a bad way. They found that hard concrete wall, with both cars suffering major damage. At that point you knew it would be a long night. Both drivers limped their hotrod's to the pit area. That's when tempers beat the tempature and a scuffle broke out. We halted all action on the track to give officials time to deal with the pit incident. Once returning to the nights action on the speedway we had great side by side racing in all classes. Tough break for M.J. Wheat in the Street Stock division. He lead the first 15 laps, before cutting down a tire. Below is the finishing order for all classes. We will be taking the 4th of July off, and will return to racing on July 11th.

The racing at Clay County Speedway got started with hotlaps, as usual right on time. The track was smooth and tachy, with all 3 classes running very fast. As we were holding the drivers meeting everyone started spotting lightning off to the West. We all know at that point it's time to race "Mother Nature".

Modified heat race #1 was great with Chad Kinder winning, it was nice to see him back at the track. We got to heat #2 and knew it was only a matter of time as it started to have that smell of rain in the air. Once the checkered flag flew on the heat race, here came the rain. We stuck it out for about 10 minutes, but there was way too much rain coming down.

Richard made the decision to call it a rain out, and try it again next week. Everyone needs to keep their ticket stubbs & Pit wrist bands, as they will be good for next weeks event. We would like to thank all drivers and fans for coming, and will see you again next Saturday.
